Possibly the most significant sighting/video I've had to date. The place I call Sriracha Hill is the setting and as usual I'm filming from the parking lot. The day was very hot so hot that it ended up being a record setting high temp day for the region. As I drove by the familiar location and did my customary hillside scan. I noticed something I've never seen before up on the hill.... It appeared to be a human dressed like a worker maybe power company or clean up crew. It didn't take long for me to realize that much more was happening here. All I can say for sure is that thise creature is bipedal.
Washington state has the highest minimum wage in the nation at $9.32. Can the state's low-wage workers can meet their basic needs without assistance? Economics correspondent Paul Solman explores the quality of life for a baggage handler at the Seattle-Tacoma Airport and an employee of McDonald's.
If you've ever flown on an airplane picture yourself strapped in for take-off and just seconds later, hearing pounding noises from underneath the plane. And those noises turn out to be coming from a person. That's exactly what happened, when a baggage handler found himself trapped aboard an Alaska Airlines flight in the United States. CCTV's Asieh Namdar filed this report.

NBC's Today on Thursday completely skipped the violence associated with May Day protests in Seattle. CBS This Morning and ABC's Good Morning America covered the riots briefly, but ignored the socialist connection to the protest. GMA news reader Josh Elliott explained, "What started as a peaceful May Day protest in Seattle turned into violence and chaos as the march was winding down."

Seattle has voted to boost its minimum wage to $15 an hour over time. The first increase takes the minimum wage to $11 an hour. But is that enough to live on in this expensive city? We profile a young barista, a temporary worker and a grocery store clerk to drill down into what it takes to stretch minimum wage to a living wage, especially with housing taking such a big chunk out of the budget. We also interview a UW professor who has created an alternative to the federal minimum wage that is more realistic and the head of a company that has already boosted its minimum wage to $15. KCTS 9 - In 1919, workers in Seattle staged the first general strike in the United States. Sixty thousand union men and women walked off their jobs in shipyards, bakeries, restaurants, and lumber mills. This five day citywide shutdown was an important first step in establishing the power of the worker, and it has helped to define the way that Seattle and the nation value equitable wages and living conditions for its hardest working citizens.
